Preparing for a corporate headshot photoshoot can help you feel confident and look your best. Here are some tips to consider:
1. Choose the right outfit: Select an outfit that reflects your profession and makes you feel comfortable. Avoid clothing with busy patterns, bright colors, and large logos. Dress professionally but also comfortably as you may be standing or sitting for extended periods during the shoot. Pro tip: Solid colors look great in headshots!
2. Practice your facial expressions: Take some time to practice your facial expressions in front of a mirror. Experiment with different expressions to see what looks best for you. During the shoot, we will give you direction and make you feel relaxed. After a few images are taken, you will then look at the photos on a laptop or iPad for review and to give feedback If you see something that you don't like, we can work on that!
3. Get a fresh haircut or style: If you need a haircut or want to change your hairstyle, do it a week before the photoshoot. This gives your hair some time to settle down, and you can style it as needed. Our #1 pro tip: oily hair is never a good look!
4. Pay attention to your skin: Begin with a natural makeup look, using just enough to cover any blemishes, but don’t worry, we will retouch your photos! You can add more makeup gradually during the shoot, such as eye shadow and darker lipstick. Lip balm or lip gloss is recommended to keep your lips looking soft. Avoid extreme beauty treatments right before the shoot, such as facial peels, tanning, or excessive exfoliation, as they may irritate your skin. It's also essential to avoid getting sunburned. Finally, remove any unwanted hair a few days prior to the shoot and clean up your brows and upper lip hair.
6. Communicate with the photographer: Before the photo shoot, discuss your preferences and what you're hoping to achieve with the photos.
7. Relax and have fun: While some may find a corporate photoshoot to be stressful, it can also be an enjoyable and fun experience. We understand that some individuals may not like having their pictures taken or feel that they do not look good in photos. A good photographer will help you feel comfortable and guide you through the process. Trust them to capture your best side!
